IRE MEDIA reports that Nigerians are staging protests nationwide to voice their concerns about economic difficulties. In Lagos State, an unnamed man made headlines by protesting naked on Thursday.
A viral video shows the man walking naked through the streets of Ojota, singing “Solidarity forever” among other protesters.
The nationwide protests, which began on August 1, 2024, under the #EndbadgovernanceinNigeria banner, aim to draw government attention to the citizens’ plight.
Our correspondent in Lagos noted that protesters defied a court order restricting them to specific areas, taking to the streets, roads, and Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park to express their grievances.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, assured on X.com that police are ensuring the safety of both protesters and non-protesters.
He stated that the area is calm and that the Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, visited protest sites, confirming they were peaceful.
Non-protesting Lagosians are going about their activities without harassment, with ongoing monitoring to prioritize safety and security.
